Is that job really in Bendigo? How to check the workplace behind a regional listing

A job appearing in a Bendigo search is worth investigating, but the result alone does not confirm where you will work. Check the original employer advertisement, position description and reporting location before deciding it belongs on your shortlist. The useful location is the place you must attend, together with any travel the job requires.

This matters when a result uses a regional label, an employer operates several sites, or a role mixes on-site and remote work. Keep a broad search for discovery, then make an address-level decision. You can find a promising opportunity without assuming that every result under a familiar place name fits your commute.

Separate three different locations

Record the search label, the employment base and the work area. The search label helps you find the advertisement. The base is where you report, collect equipment or attend the team. The work area is where duties may take you during the day or across the roster.

For a hypothetical community role, the office could be in Bendigo while visits take place elsewhere. For a hypothetical workshop role, the employer's registered office could differ from the workshop address. These are examples of questions to resolve, not descriptions of current vacancies. Do not turn a broad label into a precise suburb until the employer's evidence supports it.

Use real local sites as checks, not assumptions

Bendigo Health's Getting Here and Maps page identifies Bendigo Hospital at 100 Barnard Street, with access via Mercy Street. That provides a named site to verify when a role specifies the hospital. It does not establish that every Bendigo Health employee works at that entrance or campus.

Likewise, Bendigo TAFE's Charleston Road campus page gives its address as 62–104 Charleston Road, while the Skills and Jobs Centre lists its Bendigo contact location at Building G, 154 Hargreaves Street. The same organisation can therefore provide different destinations for different purposes. Match the address to the specific role or appointment.

For suburb searches, use Epsom, East Bendigo or Kangaroo Flat as a way to explore nearby opportunities, then retain only the location information the advertisement actually confirms. A role advertised simply as Bendigo should remain “Bendigo—site unconfirmed” in your notes until you have better evidence.

Return to the official hiring source

Use the City of Greater Bendigo's Working at the City page to reach its recruitment information, and the health network careers portal for the opportunities and employer information it presents. Follow each role to its own details rather than treating a portal homepage as confirmation of a vacancy's location or continued availability.

Compare the original advertisement with any copy you first found elsewhere. Check the employer, reference number, closing information and location wording. If the original is unavailable or the closing status is unclear, record that uncertainty. An old position description can explain duties without proving recruitment is still open.

Make a shortlist you can act on

  • Original role link: The employer's advertisement or verified application page
  • Confirmed workplace: Address and named site, or “not supplied”
  • Attendance: On-site days, start/finish requirements or “ask employer”
  • Work travel: Named sites or service area, if stated
  • Outstanding question: The single answer most likely to change your decision

For a role described as hybrid, ask which office you must attend, how often and whether induction differs. For a mobile role, ask where the working day starts and what travel is involved. For rotating sites, ask which locations form part of the normal roster. These questions clarify what the vacancy means for you without assuming flexibility the advertisement has not promised.

Then test transport against the confirmed site and attendance pattern. If the location works, proceed to the qualifications and application requirements. If it remains unclear, send a concise query to the contact named in the original advertisement before investing in a detailed application. Your next step is to take one saved job and replace its broad search label with a confirmed workplace—or a clearly written question that will establish it.
