Accounting pay: compare the work behind the number.
A practical checklist for assessing a accounting offer.
Define the role before comparing pay
- Distinguish accounts administration, bookkeeping, financial accounting, tax and management accounting.
- Ask which professional qualifications are essential and whether membership or development costs are supported.
- Clarify month-end deadlines, client work, supervisory duties and additional hours.
Check the package and the minimum
A bookkeeping or accounts-clerk offer should not be compared automatically with a qualified accountant role. Match the work and required level, then check the relevant award or agreement.
Ask for the base amount, superannuation treatment, ordinary hours and other payments in writing. Use Fair Work for award coverage and classification before using a general occupation comparison.
Use independent occupation context
Follow the occupation source below and read its date and geographic scope. Several JSA legacy ANZSCO profiles are no longer updated. Use current Atlas data where available; none of these sources is a BendigoJobs local salary survey.
