Civil engineering pay: compare the work behind the number.
A practical checklist for assessing a civil engineering offer.
Define the role before comparing pay
- Separate graduate, design, site, project-management and senior technical responsibilities.
- Confirm the worksite, travel, vehicle arrangements, overtime and any site allowances.
- Ask who supervises technical work and which registration or site requirements apply.
Check the package and the minimum
Project value and decision responsibility help explain differences between offers. Check required qualifications and Victorian registration arrangements with the employer; a job title by itself does not establish eligibility.
Ask for the base amount, superannuation treatment, ordinary hours and other payments in writing. Use Fair Work for award coverage and classification before using a general occupation comparison.
Use independent occupation context
Follow the occupation source below and read its date and geographic scope. Several JSA legacy ANZSCO profiles are no longer updated. Use current Atlas data where available; none of these sources is a BendigoJobs local salary survey.
