Find the award, then check the classification.
The job title is a starting point, not the whole pay calculation.
Gather the details the tools need
- Employer’s industry and the duties you actually perform.
- Qualifications, experience, supervision and level of responsibility.
- Employment basis, ordinary hours, roster and relevant age or apprenticeship details.
Follow the source in order
Check whether an enterprise agreement applies. If using an award, identify its coverage and classification. Use the calculation date and compare base pay, penalties, allowances and overtime separately. Read the award when a guide does not resolve the question.
Keep a record of your comparison
Save the award or agreement name, classification, date and the details entered. If the actual duties or roster differ, review the comparison. Raise an unexplained difference using Fair Work’s steps.
