Bendigo public holidays: check your work base.
Local dates can differ. Check where you are based for work before planning a shift or time off.
Check public holidays and work
A local date to check now
Business Victoria’s 2026 regional table lists Wednesday 28 October 2026 as a full-day public holiday in Greater Bendigo for areas west of the Campaspe River. The statewide calendar lists Melbourne Cup Day on Tuesday 3 November 2026, with a caveat for alternate local holidays. For an interview or appointment, check the holiday and opening arrangements at that location.
Before agreeing to a shift
For employment entitlements, start with where you are based for work. If you are temporarily working elsewhere, confirm your usual work base with your employer.
- Check the applicable holiday for your work base, rather than your home address or a temporary worksite.
- Confirm whether the local declaration replaces the statewide date.
- Check the award or agreement and Fair Work’s guidance for work, absence and pay.
- Recheck the official calendar when planning a later year.
Make the booking unambiguous
Include the date, time, location and time zone in an interview confirmation. Employers should confirm public-holiday arrangements with staff before the roster is final. The official calendars are updated; this page is reviewed on 21 October 2026.
